Frequently Asked Questions
The minimum age to join my classes is 16.
I recommend something loose-fitting and comfortable so you can fully move your body and not be constricted by clothing. See below for examples
Ladies: I recommend wearing an enclosed shoe with a small heel.
Men: I recommend a smart shoe.
Shoes should enable you to move easily across the floor without sticking so I’d avoid shoes with a rubber sole.
Should you be looking for a good pair of dance shoes, head over to my resource page to find some of the top quality Ballroom and Latin shoe manufacturers.

There is no level of fitness required to be able to join my classes. As long as you can move to music then you are more than able to participate. Ballroom Dancing is a great way to improve your fitness, mobility and overall health so should you want to better it.
Bourne End classes are 1 hour long.
Newbury classes are 45 minutes long.
My classes are structured at 3 levels to suit all dancers.
Beginners
This class is for people who have never danced before and are keen to take their first steps. In this class, you’ll learn how to hold your partner, how to navigate around the floor and a basic step pattern for each dance. In time I’ll aim to build upon your technique and add a few more steps into each routine.
Improvers
If you’ve danced in my beginners’ class for over a year or if you’ve completed a beginners class elsewhere then this class would be suitable for you. In this class, we will revisit the dances you’ve learnt in the beginner’s phase and build up the routines with more steps that are suited to dancers of this level. There is also a stronger emphasis on technique to enable you to dance at a higher level.
Intermediates
This class is suitable for those who have been in my improvers class for a year or if you have extensive dance experience. In this class, you will learn advanced step variations and the technique needed to perform them. Some of the routines taught in this class I have used on some of my competitive students so get ready for a fun and exciting class.
