“Zoey and her team have made learning to dance more fun than we ever thought possible. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere means that if you get stuck or have a question there is always someone on hand to help you out. At the end of every class we feel like we’ve add a few more steps to our ever growing repertoire. Having never taken a dance class before I’m amazed at what Zoey has been able to teach us in such a short amount of time. In addition to the lessons the monthly socials are a great place to put into practise what you have learnt and if you wish, a chance to dance with people who actually know what they are doing! So, if you are looking to learn something new, make new friends and have a good time then we can not recommend Zoey’s lessons enough.”
ABOUT ZOEY
I’ve been Ballroom and Latin dancing for over 40 years after taking my first steps at the tender age of 6. I was trained by renowned dance teacher Mary Richardson at the County School of Dancing in Reading.
After my first few classes, I knew that I was absolutely in love with dancing. I took my first competition soon after and I went through the medalist system until I was 18 years old.
It was around this time my love of dance grew even more and I decided to advance myself by competing on the open circuit both nationally and internationally as an Amateur specializing in Ballroom.
In 2000 I turned Professional and had the opportunity to develop my dancing further from the top teachers in the industry such as Marcus and Karen Hilton MBE, Kenny and Marion Welsh and Robert and Barbara Grover to name but a few. Both myself and my partner at the time were competing to a high standard and were asked to represent England in the European Professional Ballroom Championships.
One of the biggest highlights from my competitive career was winning the UK Closed Professional Ballroom Championship in 2001.
Some of my other achievements include
● British National Professional Ballroom Finalists
● United Kingdom Professional Ballroom Finalists
● Open Essex Professional Ballroom Champions
● Australian Open Professional Ballroom Finalists
For the last 20 years, I have been teaching at the County School of Dancing and gained recognized teaching qualifications with both the NATD (National Association of Teachers of Dancing) and the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing).
As a dance teacher, It’s my desire to create a friendly and informal atmosphere that allows my students to fully immerse themselves in the joys of learning to dance. Whether you’re a social dancer or a competitor my belief is that if you are having a positive learning experience then you will succeed at any level.
If you’re an aspiring dancer that shares these same beliefs then I would love to see you in one of my classes in Newbury or Bourne End!
